Art is a performance based discipline and it is important that our assessment practices are based off of each student’s individual efforts. Therefore, one of the graduation requirements for all senior art majors is to publicly exhibit a cohesive body of artworks developed above and beyond their typical classroom projects during their academic career at Missouri Southern. Typically these exhibitions are held at the MSSU Spiva Gallery with receptions that then showcase the students’ artistic accomplishments to the faculty evaluators as well as the public at large.
Due to the COVID-19 emergency closing our campus, the physical exhibits had to be cancelled. In response to the need to meet the State of Missouri’s social-distance guidelines, the Senior Exhibitions are instead being held virtually this semester.
Here, we have assembled the artworks and statements of our fourteen Spring 2020 graduating seniors for all to see the diversity of their approaches and quality of their efforts. Featured students include; B.F.A. Design: Evan Cheng, Dorothy Gonzales, Sergio Gonzalez Jake Hamilton, Amber Morris, Harley Roark, Edgar Rueda, David Thomas, and Gage Williams, B.F.A. Studio: Avonlea Blackburn, Pressley Burkart, Victoria Gayton, and Veronica Pickett and for B.A. Visual Arts: Jeanette Hughes.
